Inner Allegiance to the Infinite

Winter Solstice

'Tis the season to allow the stillness of the Infinite to nurture you.
'Tis the season to hear the heart of your soul speak to you
.

Winter Solstice, December 21, is a very special day. It is the shortest and the most internal day of the year. The magnetic field of the Earth shifts on Winter Solstice. It is very important to align ourselves with the shift of energy on this day, through meditation, yoga and prayer. We are most fortunate to have Winter Solstice on a Sunday this year, so we can take the time to realign our energies and our psyche. Be sure to be with yourself and to connect with your innermost being. If you have the opportunity to join with others in group meditation, do so. The power of the group consciousness facilitates our journey to universal consciousness.

The Gift of Peace and Joy

Every season brings us gifts. Winter offers us the gifts of inner peace and joy. More accurately, winter creates the space and provides the energy for us to access inner peace and joy. It is up to us to take advantage of the short days and long cozy nights to be with ourselves so that we can access these experiences.

It is though deep meditation that we become consciously aware of the force that unifies all existence. When we directly experience this force, we access the dimension of reality where peace IS. As we align our consciousness with the unifying force of the Universe, we experience joy. Alignment with the Infinite moves us out of the frequency of pain and struggle into the dimension of ease, flow and grace.

Sagittarius - Connect with Spirit

The Sun is in Sagittarius through December 20th. The mission of Sagittarius is to develop a consciousness in which peace and happiness dwell. Sagittarius teaches us that deep peace and true happiness are found in a spiritually-oriented mind. The ruling planet of Sagittarius is Jupiter. Expansive Jupiter blesses us with good fortune when we align our human journey with our soul essence. Rewards come when we remain true to the desires of our soul.

Sagittarius offers our mind peak experiences. While the Sun is in Sagittarius we are invited to get in touch with our spiritual will - the power to rise to the highest possible altitude of consciousness and purpose.(1) We taste the possibility of bringing our cherished dreams to actual life, through the power of our spiritual will.

Capricorn - At the Foot of the Mountain

The Sun enters Capricorn December 21st. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. The mountain goat and the wise sage Saturn bring us back to physical reality. Jupiter and Sagittarius open our minds to the spiritual realm. Capricorn takes us back down to the foot of the mountain. To climb to the top we must hold infinite consciousness in both our mind and our body. When we forget our feelings and neglect our body, we find ourselves at the bottom one more time. It is a tricky path that requires focus, determination, patience, and awareness in the present moment.

Winter Solstice is the day that we find ourselves deep inside at the foot of the mountain. This is the day to consolidate our connection with Spirit, and to anchor the light of our soul in our body. It is a very personal day. We get in touch with the fact that the trek up the mountain of life is our very own. This is a day to find and enjoy peace in our own consciousness, and to bring this peace into our sensory awareness. We need to feel that Spirit is grounded in our body. We need to know that our heart is guided by our soul. The more conscious we are, the fewer crises we will endure.

Mercury Retrograde

Mercury is supporting our inner connection and renewal this year. Mercury goes retrograde December 17th at 8:01am PST. Mercury returns direct January 6th at 5:44am PST. As I have discussed in previous New Millennium Beings(Issue 6, Issue 49, Issue 57, Issue 58), Mercury retrograde periods are a time when it is easier to access our hearts, because the mind is more inner-directed. It is a time of completions, not a time for new beginnings. It is a powerful time for heart-felt personal connections, and less a time for aggressive action. The day before, after and the day itself when Mercury goes retrograde or direct are very powerful days for meditation. In order to change direction, Mercury is stationary or stops. Being the planet of the mind, our mind is similarly impacted. Thus December 16-18 and January 5-7 are great days for deep, silent, full-body meditation.

Allegiance to the Infinite

Our ultimate tool in life is our consciousness. We are at choice to use our free will to cultivate a consciousness where we connect with the Infinite. Humans have the capacity to RECOGNIZE and to experience the Infinite. Happiness begins with this realization. True peace begins when we start to sense within ourselves the presence of a spiritual unifying factor.

However, recognition is only the first step. We must CHOOSE to use our will to turn our attention toward the Infinite. True power comes when we FOCUS on the Infinite. Then we must train ourselves to surrender to the Infinite. True freedom comes when we can honestly let go and SURRENDER to the Unknown.

The goal of every spiritual path is to cultivate an inner ALLEGIANCE to the Infinite. The Infinite energy that permeates all existence has an integrative power that impacts our consciousness. Our inner allegiance to this unifying force reorganizes our consciousness, and changes our lives forever.

Kundalini Yoga and Meditation

It is especially appropriate at this time, to practice Kundalini Yoga kriyas that prepare our body and our nervous system to hold higher frequencies of energy. Then alignment with the Infinite in our physical bodies is possible. It is also important to do exercises to open and strengthen the lower chakras. This is necessary to be able to stay in our body, and to pull in Infinite energy into physical reality. Navel exercises and Breath of Fire help cultivate a strong physical will.(2)

The trick is to take advantage of the spaces between the exercises, to cultivate conscious awareness of the Infinite. If we take the time to pay attention, we will notice that each exercise and meditation pulls us deeper into the reality of oneness. The breathing exercises and mantras transport us into magical awareness.

Cultivating a Relationship with the Infinite

Below I list the basic steps for cultivating a relationship with the Infinite. Integrate these tools into your practice as you are guided to do so. There is no set pattern. The important thing is to train your consciousness to master the five steps. Your progress is evolutionary. Climb the mountain of consciousness, one sure step at a time.

1. Choice

Begin your practice by making the conscious choice to use your free will to cultivate a conscious connection with the Infinite.

2. Recognition

After each exercise, sit quietly. Go inside. Listen for the sound of silence. Look into your head until you see a deep space. Keep doing this until you recognize an experience of the Infinite. Keep doing this. Keep being with your inner Infinite experience.

3. Feel

Feel how this experience impacts your mind, emotions and body. Stay with what you experience in your mind, emotional body and physical body. Over time, the experiences will become more concrete and vivid. The subtle essence of peace and joy of the Infinite will begin to be present in your physical and sensory awareness.

4. Attention

There will be many distractions. Use your will to gently, without judgment, return your attention to the Infinite. Keep CHOOSING to focus on the Infinite.

5. Surrender

We must train ourselves to surrender to the Infinite. After each exercise let go and surrender to your experience of the energy and force that is always present. Surrender to the Infinite, to the Unknown, to your soul, to your breath. And keep on surrendering. Enjoy the sweetness of surrender.

Start with 2 and work up to seven if you can. Even 2-4 minutes each will pull you deep into yourself. After each exercise sit quietly and let go to the Infinite, to the Unknown, to your heart. You will experience something very beautiful.
