Solar Eclipse: Emotional Meltdown
By Gururattan Kaur Khalsa, Ph.D.
Today I got an email from a good friend saying
that he has not felt stable for the last two weeks. He is experiencing that all his beliefs and ideas that are not
solid are being confronted. Then I
talked to a girl friend who is in charge of a preschool program. There was a fire alarm this morning, which
turned out to be an accident. As she
was trying to keep the kids calm and lead them out of the school, the janitor
stopped her and asked who was going to take care of clearing the dirty
breakfast dishes off the tables!
Hello! I decided to take a break
from the drama that is trying to invade my life lately to write you all a quick
note about the apparent emotional meltdown that seems to take center stage at
this time.
My message is to take care of yourselves. The lunar and now the solar eclipses are
doing a number on our emotions and mind.
Don’t expect sanity from others and do what you can to maintain your
own. If you are wondering why something
is happening to you at this time, the simple answer is --
It is the effect of the
eclipses. Just do what you can to stay safe. This too shall
pass. And then there will be something else. :+)
As I wrote in the last NMBeing, eclipses are
catalysts for change and the harbingers of transformation. Eclipses create change by disrupting the
normal electromagnetic pattern of the Sun-Moon field and our own
electromagnetic fields. (*1).
Friday May 30th at 9:20 P.M. is the
New Moon is Gemini and the Solar Eclipse in the Gemini/Sagittarius
polarity. Gemini is about communication, beliefs, daily life experiences and
the ability to recognize and deal with differences, diversity and polarities –
good and evil, black and white, etc.Sagittarius offers the higher spiritual
ground and universal truths, which allow us to make optimal choices and
discriminate between what wastes our time and what serves our soul.
We are experiencing a period of very disruptive
energy. Beliefs that we once held as
sacred are being exposed as no longer valid.
I am reminded of the bumper sticker – “Don’t believe everything you
think.” I would add, don’t think about
every thing you believe. You could
certainly drive yourself crazy.
The lower, unconscious expression of Gemini energy manifests as feeling unglued, scattered and as an inability to stay centered or focused. We just don’t know what way to turn or what choices to make. Our inability to discriminate can pull us into situations that are not in our highest good. The lower expressions of Sag energy manifest as dogmatic, judgmental, self-righteous and uncompromising thinking. We are right and they are wrong perceptions pull us into either victimization or holier than thou attitudes.
My bottom line touchstone for this period of time is – Don’t take everything so seriously. This is a Gemini motto, so take advantage of the light-hearted energy between May 21st and June 20th, while the Sun is in Gemini, to simply enjoy the ride.
Change your perspective and/or your paradigm for evaluating life is the theme for the Full Moon at 4:16 AM PST Saturday June 14 (Moon in Sagittarius/Sun in Gemini). Start now and take advantage of the spiritual connection afforded by Sagittarius to cultivate and maintain higher ground. Don’t let yourself get pulled into other people’s dramas and don’t create your own.
I personally find that maintaining the higher ground is the most difficult as well as the most rewarding stance. It is a challenge, but nothing else works at times like this. So I say go for it. Get off your position that just serves to crystallize polarities into dualities and conflicts. Just for a few minutes, hours, even one whole day, surrender to a higher power. Let go and let God take care of your issues. Surrender to higher love and bless the people and situations that are bugging you. Go for the gold and open your heart to yourself and your adversaries. Push the envelope and keep your heart open by trying to understand the fears and unmet needs of those confronting you.
Acknowledge and feel your emotions, but keep the stories attached to them out of your mind. Fill you mind with the mantra of your choice or the affirmation “God bless us all in the name of Guru Ram Das.” I find that the later always miraculously works. Be honest when you experience disappointments, but pursue your life undaunted. Be at center stage in your life process. Take your next steps with courage and conviction.
In the next few years we will all notice how fragile life is. Make sure you protect and take care of yourself. Give your health and well-being priority. Self-protection and loving care will be highlighted when Saturn goes into Cancer June 4th for two years. To maintain your emotional sanity, consciously make your own choices and don’t submit under pressure. It is totally OK to simply say NO and take time before you respond to requests.
The moon and the emotions
are highlighted when the Sun is eclipsed.
Our subconscious programs come out to play. Our petty beliefs and shadows get exposed in the light of our
soul. If we allow the emotional release
and cleansing demanded at this time, we will be cleansed and clear to move
forward in our lives.
The good news is that we get
in touch with the deeper part of ourselves where we know our own truth. We come
back to our heart center where we touch our own purity and innocence. It is a good time to relate to the same
purity and innocence in others.
Connecting at the heart is the formula for peace and the prescription
for joy.
One of the best ways to
maintain our sanity at this time is to practice any Kundalini yoga set and
meditation for the heart. There are
pages and pages of them in Transitions to a
Heart-Centered World.
Blessing on and for
everyone.
